Mediterranean Inspired Chickpea Tuna Salad

Chickpea Tuna Salad


  • 1 15 oz can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 12 oz can white-meat tuna packed in water, drained
  • 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced fresh basil
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp capers, drained


  • 3 Tbsp plain nonfat yogurt
  • 3 Tbsp nonfat mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper


  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the dressing ingredients; set aside.
  2. In a large salad bowl, combine the chickpeas, tuna, red bell pepper, red onion, basil, and capers.
  3. Pour the dressing on the tuna mixture and combine.
  4. Serve with crispbread crackers, pita bread or over greens, if desired.
