Hot Weather Tips

  • Stay indoors in air-conditioned or fan cooled room during the hottest part of day & poor air quality days
  • Avoid exercising outside.  Do exercise in a/c gym or home, early morning or late evening
  • Remain well hydrated with water, sugar free/diet drinks.  Avoid sodas & alcohol beverages
  • Store glucose meter, strips, insulin pump supplies & insulin in a cool dry place
  • If concerned about insulin pumps during the heat, you can use a protective pouch with a small, cold gel pack placed inside the pouch.  Also cover pump with a towel to protect from direct sunlight
