Shift Your Focus Away From Food:
• Christmas carol with family/friends
• Look at Christmas lights on foot
• Watch or participate in a sporting event
• Get involved in a board or card game
• Spend quality time with family and friends
• Shop till you drop
• Decorate the Christmas tree
For the Party:
• Take the edge off of hunger by eating a healthy snack before leaving home
• Take an especially nutritious, low-calorie food to share with the group
• Plan how you will spend your calories and carbs (survey the buffet table)
• Indulge in a select few high fat, high sugar foods and keep portions small
• Practice intentional eating — savor every bite
• Be the life of the party and mingle – conversation is calorie free!
How to Handle Social Pressures:
• Learn to say NO and get results
• Reduce Temptations:
– Distract self: chew gum, peppermint candy
-Politely decline and change the subject
-Move yourself physically away from the source
-Always plan ahead.
