The Seasons and Reasons for Exercise

Summer is hot.

Winter is cold.

Spring is wet.

With Fall there’s the holidays.

All of these are wonderful reasons not to exercise, but did you know that exercise isn’t just good for your waistline and your heart, but can also help reverse the diabetes process? Even if you aren’t losing weight with exercise, you may be making critical improvements in your body’s ability to control your blood sugar. Walking or running isn’t the only type of exercise.

Strength exercises may be equally important according to some studies. Some simple strength exercises you can do inside are things like; push ups, pull ups, dips, crunches, lunges, squats to name a few. There are ways to simplify or intensify each of these exercises based on your fitness level. Talk to your doctor about which ones are safe for you, so you can get your exercise in during any of the four pesky seasons!
